Colin Henderson - Shadow Photoshoot
In this photo shoot I wanted to explore and think about the thought process of Colin Henderson and the techniques he used due to his surroundings. Throughout the majority of Henderson's photography he aims to engage with the viewer. I wanted to use shadows and felt that Colin Henderson would be a great photography to use to introduce me to shadows seeing as he uses a lot of the techniques i have recently learnt.
How Does This Photoshoot Fit into Your Theme?
This photo shoot ties in with my theme of shadows due to the whole photo being aimed around the technique of shadows. It also ties in with my theme seeing as it being the BMX rider that most of my photo shoots have been on and the photo is of his foot, relating it to my work.
What Were You Aiming To Do In This Photoshoot?
Within this photo shoot i wanted to pick up and incorporate some of the skills from Henderson into my work. I have tried to use shadows like Colin Henderson did, (Subtly) by subtly using these skills it can advance my photography and increase my knowledge of photography. This will also help later on when using other techniques in my work.
What Were You Influenced By During The Planning Of This Photo Shoot?
After reviewing Henderson's photos he really inspired me to look at BMX photography from another aspect, instead of just taking images of people riding bikes etc it made me realize that i can explore BMX photography in other elements. For example me photographing the riders foot, yet still using important photography techniques.
What Did You Learn Throughout This Photo Shoot?
I have learnt that you can subtly add photography techniques to your work as well as using other techniques to increase the quality and standard of your photography. I have also learnt that when photographing a theme/genre you can think outside the box and explore with your photography.
What Didn't Work In Your Photo Shoot?
To start it took a few attempts at trying to get the depth of field perfect but after a few attempts changing it, i was able to grasp the correct depth of field. I also had to get the feet of the rider into a good position so that they didn't take up the whole of the photo yet they still had an element of shadow in them.
